Is it just me or does life seem to be kicking allot of people in the butt lately?
It seems people's joy, peace and happiness has been slowly fading. At first, I thought it was just me but after talking with other brothers and sisters in Christ I realized that allot of other people are noticing the same thing.
Then it brought me to think about a drought season I went through with my relationship with God, which was pure misery.
I was a Christian at the time but I did not read my bible often, pray or seek after God, I thought I could take care of life on my own for the most part.
Boy was I wrong!
I quickly learned that life was no joke and that I cold not fulfill the plan God had for my life by going about life on a cruise status.
I personally found myself beginning to get angry faster, irritated, depressed ext. after getting so broken, I began to seek God again and he revealed to me I was never designed to to live life outside of his presence.
So I repented and began to seek God like never before. I spent alone time with God every single day again by deep prayer, reading my bible and worship.
After a couple of days of doing this, I could begin to see the difference in the way that I began to see things. I began to enjoy spending time with God and it no longer felt forced.
I began to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.
Not because I'm great in any way shape or form, it was the power of the presence of God that transformed my life.
In this blog post, I want to share with you 3 Benefits of spending time in the presence of God. Keep in mind there are a ton of more reasons to spend time with God but I felt moved to elaborate on these three 🙂
Giving to God
Most people believe that getting into Gods presence is all about what you can get from him but it's actually a two-way relationship. In other words, it's not just important to get from God but to give to God.
Psalms 95;10 says, Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, let us shout joyfully to him with psalms.
When you come to God it's important to always come ready to give him thanks for all he's done and will do in your life. He's truly worthy or our honor and praise.
Before I get started I want to make very clear that making the effort to spend time with God takes being humble enough to acknowledge that you can not go on throughout life without him. When you do this he will show up and will give you grace.
James 4;6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
3 Benefits Of Spending Daily Time With God
1) Pleasure & Joy
Psalms 16;11 You will show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
The first thing that I noticed change in my life after spending daily time with God was I began to get content with life and find pleasure in the smallest things throughout the day.
I began to feel my joy in life come back again because I was no longer worried about the cares of this life.
2) Repent & Refreshing
Acts 3;19 Repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come, from the PRESENCE of the Lord.
I'm a firm believer that repentance is not a one-time thing but it is something that we all must practice on a daily basis. I believe there are sins that we may commit knowingly and unknowingly and we should go to God every day to repent for them.
I believe confessing our sins not only allow us to be forgiven but it also allows us to be free from the burdens of our sin.
When we confess our sins in the time that we spend with God they will be blotted out and a refreshing will come from the presence of the Lord.
Exodus 33;14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
Matthew 11;28-30 come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
In today's fast-paced world it's easy to feel so burdened down by every day task but there is true rest in the presence of God.
I noticed a huge shift in my stress level once I began to take all my problems and worries to God in prayer. I realized that Jesus never wanted me to carry any of them myself in fact he literately wanted me to throw all of them to him.
1 Peter 5;7 says, casting all your care upon him; for he careth of ryou.
The definition for cast: is to throw something.
So Jesus is literately saying throw all of your burdens, hurts, cares ext on him because he cares about you. Jesus wants you to depend on him for all of your needs.
