3 Shocking Benefits Of Spending Daily Time in The Presence of God
Is it just me or does life seem to be kicking allot of people in the butt lately?
It seems so many people’s joy, peace and happiness have been slowly fading. At first, I thought it was just me noticing
this but after talking with other brothers and sisters in Christ I realized that allot of other people are noticing the same thing.
Then it brought me to think about a draught season I went through with my relationship with God, which was pure misery.
I was a Christian at the time but I did not read my bible often, pray or seek after God. I thought I could take care of life on my own for the most part.
Boy was I wrong!
I quickly learned that life was no joke and that I cold not fulfill the plan God had for my life by going about life on a cruise status.
I personally found myself beginning to get angry faster, irritated, depressed ext. after getting so broken, I began to seek God again and he showed me I was never designed to try to do life outside of his presence and without him.
So I repented and began to seek God like never before. I spent alone time with God every single day again by deep prayer, reading my bible and worship.
After a couple of days of doing this, I could begin to see the difference in the way that I began to see things. I began to enjoy spending time with God and it no longer felt forced.
I began to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Again not because I’m so great of a person I simply decided to make sure to spend time with God on a daily basis and He began to birth the fruit of the Holy Spirit in me, which one of those were peace and joy.
In this blog post, I want to share with you 3 Benefits of spending time in the presence of God. Let me mention before I began that there are a ton of more reasons to spend time with God but I felt moved to elaborate on these three 🙂
Giving to God
Most people believe that getting into Gods presence is all about what you can get from Him, however, the relationship you have with God is it’s actually a two-way relationship. In other words, it’s not just important to get from God but to give to God.
Psalms 95;10 says, Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, let us shout joyfully to him with psalms.
When you come to God it’s important to always come ready to give him thanks for all he’s done and will do in your life. He’s truly worthy of our honor and praise.
Before I get started I want to make it very clear that making the effort to spend time with God takes being humble enough to acknowledge that you can not go on throughout life without him. When you do this he will show up and will give you grace.
James 4;6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud but giveth grace unto the humble.
3 Benefits Of Spending Daily Time In The Presence Of God
1) Pleasure & Joy
Psalms 16;11 You will show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of, joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
The first thing that I noticed that changed in my life after spending daily time with God was I began to be content with life and find pleasure in the smallest things throughout the day. I believe this came because In my quite a time I would literately cast all of my cares towards Him (1 Peter 5;7 KJV) I would literately give Him all of my worries, frustrations, bitterness ext. I would also take this time to completely make the decision to forgive any offenses I received that day from anyone. I did not know how I was going to get over some of those issues but I trusted God and He took care of it all.
2) Repent & Refreshing
Acts 3;19 (KJV) Repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come, from the PRESENCE of the Lord.
I’m a firm believer that repentance is not a one-time thing but that we must do whenever we commit any sin against God. Repentance simply means to confess your offense to God and to turn away from the sin. Repentance not only allows us to receive forgiveness by God but it also allows us to be free from all the burdens that sin brings.
The great thing about God is that if we confess our sins to Him He is always faithful and just to forgive us of all of our sins and remember them no more.
1 John 1;9 (KJV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Hebrews 8;12 (KJV) For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Exodus 33;14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
Matthew 11;28-30 come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
In today’s fast-paced world it’s easy to feel so burdened down by the things taken place in our everyday lives and this is why it is so important that we take out daily time to give God all of our stress so He can give us true rest. I use to think that rest was something that God would simply give to me by default however I have learned that we must invite God into our day to day life and literately cast our cast to Him so that He can grant us peace.
As long as we are trying to do everything ourselves we don’t give God the opportunity to show us what He can do for us, so we must step out the way and let Him fight our day to day battles.
1 Peter 5;7 says, casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
The definition for cast: is to throw something.
So Jesus is literately saying throw all of your burdens, hurts, cares ext on him because he cares about you. Jesus wants you to depend on him for all of your needs.
